TurboSWAP New Version Installation

A new version of TurboSWAP is now available, which includes a few fixes and enhancements and a feature that allows the user to save assessment reports as PDF (Adobe Acrobat) files. You may want to print this page before proceeding.

 

Installation instructions:

 

      1.    BACKUP YOUR CURRENT TURBOSWAP DATA DIRECTORY (make a copy of the directory somewhere else on your computer or network).

 

      2.    Identify the location of your current TurboSWAP installation (usually the SWAPtb directory in your C:\ drive).

 

      3.    Identify the version number and date of your current TurboSWAP installation.

 

      4.    Download the update file for the new version.

 

a.          Go to the folder indicated using the information from your current version:

·             If you are running Version 1.2.9 (November, 2002) or Version 1.3.1 (December, 2002), right click here.

·             If you are running an earlier version, right click here.

 

b.         Select "Save Target As…" or "Copy to folder…" or similar from the menu.

 

c.          Save the file to any convenient place on your computer (i.e. in your c:\temp directory)

 

The attachment is a self-extracting zip file.  It does several things:

·             replaces sf.exe file   (the main program executable)

·             adds the PDF library files

·             replaces report files

·             updates data tables

 

      5.    Install the new version

 

a.          Double click on the file to start or

 

b.         Click on the Windows Start button, then select Run from the pop-up menu, click on the Browse button to find the file you downloaded, select the file, then click on OK.

 

      6.    You will be see a "WinZip Self Extractor" screen, and will be prompted for the location of your current TurboSWAP installation.

 

a.          If TurboSWAP is installed in the c:/SWAPtb directory, click on "Unzip" or

 

b.         Click on "Browse" and find the appropriate folder, click on OK, then click on "Unzip".

 

      7.    You should get a message that says "99 (or 112) files unzipped successfully."  Click on "OK.” 

 

      8.    Close the WinZip Self Extractor window.

 

      9.    You will need Adobe® Acrobat® ReaderTm to read and print the generated PDF files. If you do not have it, you can download it from the Adobe web site.

 

10.    Start TurboSWAP.  At the first screen, you should see Version 1.3.2, May 12, 2003

 

11.    Run the “Update systems and sources” task in TurboSWAP

 

12.    You can now use the new features of TurboSWAP.
